SWIFT payment tracking by UETR

Know where your SWIFT payment is.

Paste the UETR from your payment confirmation. SWIFTarius collects what the banks along the route report, explains each status in plain words, and messages you in Telegram when the payment moves.

Opens @swiftarius_bot. No bank login, nothing to install.

The gap

“It has left our bank.” Then silence.

A cross-border payment can pass through two, three or four banks before it is credited. Each one screens it, waits for cut-off times and holidays, and may hold it for documents. Your bank sees its own leg. The recipient sees nothing until the money lands.

Since November 2018 every SWIFT customer transfer has carried a UETR: one reference that stays the same from the first bank to the last. SWIFTarius uses it to show you each step the banks have reported.

How it works

Three steps. No integration, no bank login.

  1. 01Find the UETR

It is on your payment confirmation or advice: field 121 of an MT103, or PmtId › UETR in a pacs.008. Your bank can also give it to you.

    :32A:261026USD48200,00
  2. 02Send it to the bot

Paste it into the bot, with the amount and value date if you have them. The first answer usually comes in about half a minute.

  3. 03Hear when it moves

Turn on watch mode: SWIFTarius re-checks the payment, messages you on every change and sends a morning digest of what is still on its way.

In Telegram

Every step in one message, in plain words

The bot keeps one card per payment: the latest status, each bank’s report with its time, and what to do next. When a bank holds the payment, you see which one and why.

Need your counterparty to stop asking? Send them a link instead of a screenshot. It opens in their language and never shows the amount.

Reading the codes

Bank status codes, in plain words

Banks report progress with ISO 20022 status codes and gpi reason codes. SWIFTarius shows both, and says what each one means for your money.

  • ACSPIn transit

Accepted and moving. A bank in the chain has processed its leg and passed the payment on.

  • PDNGOn hold

A bank is reviewing the payment or waiting for documents or funds before it goes further.

  • ACSCSettled

Settlement between the banks is complete. The beneficiary’s bank still has to post it to the account.

  • ACCCCredited

The beneficiary’s bank reports the money on the account. This is the final step.

  • RJCTRejected

A bank refused the payment. The funds normally go back to the sender, often minus fees.

  • CANCCancelled

Stopped at the sender’s request before the beneficiary was credited.

Why a payment is where it is

gpi reason codes travel with the status. They explain an ACSP or a hold.

gpi reason codes and their meaning
CodeMeaning
G000Passed to the next bank, which reports its progress
G001Passed to a bank that does not report: a credit confirmation may never come
G002The bank cannot confirm the credit today
G003Held: the bank is waiting for documents
G004Held: the bank is waiting for the funds to arrive
G005Delivered to the beneficiary’s bank, credit not yet confirmed
G006Delivered to a beneficiary’s bank that does not report

Questions

Before you paste a UETR

What is a UETR?

The Unique End-to-end Transaction Reference: a 36-character code, such as cf935c67-a3ac-4d58-b2fc-bf2267a14ecd, that the sending bank attaches to a SWIFT payment. It stays the same at every bank along the route.

Where do I find it?

On the payment confirmation or advice from your bank: field 121 of an MT103, or PmtId › UETR in a pacs.008. If you can’t see it, ask your bank for “the UETR of my transfer”.

Do you need access to my bank account?

No. SWIFTarius never asks for bank logins or passwords. The UETR is enough; the amount and value date help some banks find the payment.

What if nothing is found?

Not every bank reports to a public tracker, and some answer only when the amount and date match. SWIFTarius tells you which checks found nothing, and in watch mode it keeps checking for several days.

Is a status proof that the money arrived?

No. A status is what the banks have reported. Only the beneficiary’s bank can confirm that the money is on the account.

Is SWIFTarius part of SWIFT?

No. SWIFTarius is an independent service. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by SWIFT or by any bank.

How do I pay?

Plans are paid in Telegram Stars inside the bot. API checks use prepaid credits. See the Terms of Service for refunds.
